Debbie Lawrence returned to work with Joseph Mwaba's NGO, Zambia Deaf Vision (ZDV) to lauched the "Giving the Gift of Zambian Sign Language" initative. Together, they brought the gift of communication to deaf children from ages 10 to 18 yrs. old, who were entirely language deprived. These children, who didn't even know their own names and had never attended school, now have the opportunity to learn and grow.
In 2021, Zambia Deaf Vision and Easy Signing collaborated to establish the first Deaf-owned and Deaf-operated RTC for the Deaf in Ndola, Zambia. This multifunctional space serves as a Christian school and in the future a marketplace ministry, making it a self-sustaining and self-propagating facility, the first of its kind in Zambia. Here, the Deaf community with language deprivation can receive education, employment, and Christian training, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. This summer, Joseph Mwaba is visiting the United States to engage in his first cross-cultural experience with American Deaf communities. Will you join us in welcoming him to present Zambian Deaf Culture at your schools, organizations, and churches? We invite you to extend an invitation for Mr. Joseph to speak at your next event. His presentations will offer valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of the Zambian Deaf community. Additionally, we ask for your generous support. Any donation, no matter the amount, will significantly impact the work Joseph and the Zambia Deaf Vision team are doing in Zambia.
